My name is Daniel Zettl and I’m currently senior animator at Weta Digital
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
To financially support my animation internship after high school, I worked in the halls of the biggest german provider for postal services and was sorting letters and packages every night for a couple hours. Met some pretty quirky people there 😉
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Very proud to have been a part of James Cameron’s Avatar and currently of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit.
How did you become interested in animation?
I started out with drawing a lot, doing design jobs and lots of graffiti. At some point the still image, or the single drawing wasnʼt enough anymore and I was searching for something that could unlock whatʼs hidden in me. It had to get it out and on that search I
stumbled over Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Lets see, I was an Architect and practiced for a year in India before I came to the US to study Animation. I also did a stint as a waiter at a Moroccan Restaurant. Both crazy jobs in their own way!
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Cinematics for games has been a lot of fun – both with Carbines”Wildstar” and with Blizzards STARCRAFT 2 – Heart of the swarm”. Before that it was great to be part of the team at Sony Imageworks on their features. With the smaller studios its great to get more influence and involvement with the projects and with the bigger shows its great to get your name on a major project and be part of a fantastic team.
Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I am from a small state in South India called Kerala. Like many kids, I grew up watching Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and Disney animation and reading and drawing comics. Later I Continue reading

Floyd Bishop

What is your name and your current occupation?
I’m Floyd Bishop. I’m currently the senior animator on Free Realms at Sony Online Entertainment.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I was a lifeguard for eight years, mostly summers during high school and college. In the winters, I would work odd jobs. These included a short stint at a bakery where I started as a dish washer but then got to decorate wedding cakes and a bra factory where I would sort bundles of sports bra sections and then carry them upstairs to the factory floor to be sewn together. I tried to learn something at every job I ever had. For example, the average sports bra has five pieces!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’m really proud of Free Realms. There is a ton of animation in the game, and we get to be really creative on the project. I was also a character animator on the first Ice Age movie. I have something like 90 shots in the final film.

How did you become interested in animation?
I always liked cartoons as a kid. I watched a lot of Sesame Street, and that show had a ton of animation on it. As a result, I was exposed to a lot of different kinds of animation at a very young age. I drew a lot as I got older, and started to Continue reading
