I was very proud of working at DNA Productions in Dallas on Jimmy Neutron. This was a dream come true being able to walk into an animation studio not knowing how to draw a stick figure but understanding the principles design and composition and applying them to a completely different field surrounded by tons of creative people.  This was my Film 101 on the Movie, the TV series and the followup, The Ant Bully. A very under-rated film in my opinion.  Ken Mitchroney and Johann Klingler get all my props.

I’ve been interested in Animation since birth. Seriously, I re-created Continue reading

Show off you Workspace!

My last post about Japanese artists showing off their workspaces got me to thinking it would be cool for animators around the world to do the same. So, if you’re interested in doing so, snap a pic of your workstation either at work or at home (or both) and email it to mike@animationinsider.com or link to it in the comments and I’ll gather them together and make one big post. Animators represent! As a start here’s mine:

I’ve only ever worked in the animation industry. I mean, there was a brief foray in a model kit store in Dublin in 2001 but thankfully that didn’t last long. I missed the sun. And a wage. And a life.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
The Land Before Time and All Dogs Go To Heaven were fun. I loved working on Sinbad at Dreamworks. Great environment and great artists. Lot of good work on that one.
How did you become interested in animation?

Never though that shot could become so famous.  Also, to work in “Alma”, the short film directed by Rodrigo Blaas ( currently director in Dreamworks ) . It was my very first project working very closely to high talented and old school artists. Such and amazing project that I’ve like a treasure in my memories… simply wonderful.
