What is your name and your current occupation?
Rich Dickerson – Music Composer
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I played in a cover band for 12 years in the New York, tri-state area. I was the lead singer, sang three fifty minute sets a night, five to six nights a week. We had a huge sound system, light show, roadies, truck, manager, agent etc… Nothing in my life was crazier than those days. Someday I will write a book about it.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
What’s New Scooby Doo? is at the top because in addition to scoring the show which include multiple genres in each episode and writing the theme song I got to work with some great people at Warner Bros who I can call my friends to this day. I won an Emmy for writing the theme for ESPN’s animated, “Off Mikes” show – that was a total surprise. Was nominated for Cynopsis Kids Imagination Award for the “Yoohoo & Friends” Theme song. Shows like: “Yoohoo & Friends”, “Big Foot Little Foot”, “Action Dad”, “Lalaoopsies”, “Lala Girls”, “Where’s My Water?” “Julius Jr.” and “Dibo The Gift Giving Dragon” where all musically a lot of fun. Oh, and Icebox’s “Zombie College” because it was the first animation theme song I wrote and I got to sing it too!

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I am from Long Island New York. I was hired as VP of Music for the online animation network Icebox.com. I oversaw the music for 22 shows and was fortunate enough to Continue reading

David Rodriguez

What is your name and your current occupation?
Hey, I’m David Rodriguez and I’m currently a Freelance Animator at Halon Entertainment.  Working on a “Shhhhh” project.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I haven’t had any real “crazy” jobs, I would say mostly jobs you typically get when your young looking for work.  My very first job was when I was 18 years old working at Toys R US.  I was running on the main “Boys World”  that was fun.  Then after that I worked in Shipping & Receiving for some wholesale company.  Very boring and physical work.  I didn’t last there too long.  I wouldn’t take a job like that again.  You do too much for too little.  After that, I landed a job at a doctors office as an office clerk while I was attending college.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I would say my very first animation project I landed.  I got to work for Start Wars: Unleash The Force II.  That was lots of fun.  But I guess any animation project I work on I feel proud of.  Even now, working on Previs. makes me feel like I’m helping the director bring his ideas to life.   I also worked on Piranha 3D movie and some other small video game titles.

How did you become interested in animation?
I would say the very first time I saw Toy Story in theaters. Ever since then I wanted to know how 3D animation was made.  In some weird sense it felt like Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My Name’s Eva Bruschi and I’ve just started working as 2d Layout artist for a feature film, that is “Iqbal – Tale of a fearless child” dedicated to Iqbal Masih. This is a co-production with Italian Gertie, Editions Montparnasse, Spectra Animation and 2d 3D Animation. I’m very honoured to be part of this team.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I used to work in a special archive made of lots and lots of audio and videos recordings which contain stories from italian popular music and traditions.  There we had to digitize all the old analogical recordings made by researchers all around Italy, from the 50s till our days.. and sometimes there were crazy weird things to listen to! I’ve been there for almost 4 years 🙂

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’m proud of having been part first of all of “Ice Banana” team, the short film made by my class at Scuola Internazionale di Comics. Then I’m very proud about almost all the projects I’ve been working (yes, I’m an enthusiast!), starting from other feature films like Pinocchio by Enzo D’Alò in which I did animation assistant and Gladiators of Rome 3D by Rainbow cgi in which I was storyboard artist, until smaller one like some Italian TV series, with many drawings to do in a very few time! 😀 Those projects gave more certainty and awareness of my own work, even if the road has just started!

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Florence, in the beautiful Tuscany and here I attended Scuola Internazionale di Comics like I said before. The school gave me the artistic and technical fundamentals and introduced me to Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
Hello my name is Axel Ortiz…I am a Development Artist based in Los Angeles. I mainly do conceptual work not only in animation..also in video games, theme park and live action. I also work on my own projects as well.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Well, I wouldn’t say my past jobs were crazy….more like working with mentally nutty people. Worked Sears in the kids dept…dealt with crazy customers. I worked at a Pioneer Chicken for two weeks so I can make enough money to buy a comic book back issue. Before heading out to school to the Art Center….I worked at the airport down in the ramp…where I would get passengers’ luggages into the plane. In all of these places I worked with colorful characters…I would always be drawing in my sketchbooks during my breaks….or on the clock. 😛

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
There’s a few projects that I liked working on…like Big Guy and Rusty show from Sony Animation was very cool to work on…I’m a fan of the Geoff Darrow and Frank Miler book that the show is based on. I also liked working on developing characters for pitches for clients as well…getting the chance to create something new is always fun…I’ve done stuff for Nickelodeon, Bento Box, Midway, Activision, Animax and others. Lately I’m excited to be developing characters for two animated show ideas for two clients of mine. One will be pitched to Disney…let see how that goes?

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from the greater Los Angeles area of the South Bay….not far from the beach. I got into the animation just by chance…Sometime after I graduated from the Art Center College of Design…I was doing freelance jobs and working on my own project at the time…I got a call one afternoon from Continue reading
