I was a copywriter for a toys company and wrote descriptions for their monster toys.

Lucas Martell

What is your name and your current occupation?
Lucas Martell. I’m a writer/director/producer currently developing my own projects through my company: Martell Animation (martellanimation.com) I also freelance occasionally as a Line producer or CG Supervisor.

 

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
For one summer I did school photography. You know the guys who go around and take pictures of high schoolers for the yearbook? Worst. Job. Ever.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
A while back I did a short film called Pigeon: Impossible. It was a lot of fun, and I learned an immense amount by going through that and dealing with every single step of the animation process.

What is your name and your current occupation?
Michael Fry.  I write the comic strip Over the Hedge.  And I’m President of RingTales LLC.  RingTales animates print comics for all digital media.  We have the exclusive right to animate Dilbert, The New Yorker Animated Cartoons, Pearls Before Swine, Over the Hedge and many other comics.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I was fortunate to become a full time cartoonist a couple years out of college.   Before that I bar-tended, did a lot of freelance work.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
The DreamWorks Animation version of Over the Hedge. Committed,  a prime time animated series of one of my other comics, produced by Nelvana.

 What is your name?

My name is Jason Lethcoe.

What would you say has been your primary job in animation?

Mostly as a Story Artist, but I got my start as an Inbetweener, worked up to Animator and even Directed for a bit.  But at the end of the day, I fell in love with Story.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?

Selling funeral plots.  Seriously. I actually went with my dad to a seminar on how to do it and after trying it for one day, the whole thing creeped me out so badly that I had to find a better way.  Other jobs included Assistant Manager at Morrow’s Nut House.  I also used to build elaborate props for parties, 12 foot tall telephones and stuff.  It was crazy.

Eddie Brito

What is your name and your current occupation?
Eduardo a.k.a. Eddie Brito, I am a Writer / Director / Producer at arlequín STUDIOS.

 

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I used to own an exporting business from Miami, Florida to South America. I used to freight forward appliances and cargo for a living.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
As a General Producer of the Television Show “Buscando Amor” (“Looking for Love”, the Latin version of the “Blind Date” reality show), I added the first Computer Generated Images (with Maya, autodesk) in a Latin American Television Show. We created 3 different characters, a Mouse, a Teacher, and a Scientist that would make humorist comments during the show. We did this during sweeps in 2003, and kept the format until 2004, on Estrella 62 Television, in Burbank, California.

Kevin Sullivan

What is your name and your current occupation?

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked at Walt Disney Imagineering for years. I started as an assistant. On my first day, the show producer I was working for asked me to get him a helicopter. He was making a film for one of the parks, but he didn’t want the helicopter for that; he wanted it to take him home to Saugus so he could skip the traffic on the 5 freeway. Before that, I was a Production Assistant on the Academy Awards, and spent Oscar night in a tux in the green room, hanging with celebrities and holding their Oscars. That was a super fun job.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I am super proud of everything – I think all of Butch Hartman’s shows for Nick are a blast and I am proud to have been a part of them. For me, I’d say I’m most proud of TUFF Puppy. I think it’s not only funny, but really clever and smart, too. But FOP and Danny Phantom were where I really learned to write animation so I’ll always hold a special place for both shows. FOP has a zaniness I never get tired of. And I’d never written action before Danny Phantom, so that was a learning curve. I went from writing too vague sequences like “Danny and the Box Ghost fight” to descriptive paragraphs so overwritten I hold the record for the longest single script of Danny Phantom ever written. (And yes, I’m proud of that, too…)
