Dan Harmon meets ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ in ‘Harmonquest’

USA Today has a first look at the upcoming series Harmonquest created by Dan Harmon of Community. Directed by Dominic Polcino and animated by Starburns Industries (Ricky and Morty and Anomalisa)

From the article:

Adapted from an improv segment on his Harmontown podcast, the part animated, part live-action series brings Harmon and his comedian friends together to play fantasy roleplaying game Pathfinder. All 10 episodes were shot in front of a live audience last year, and feature comedians Erin McGathy, Jeff B. Davis and “Game Master” Spencer Crittenden. Special guests include Aubrey Plaza, Ron Funches and Paul F. Tompkins, who join Harmon and Co. as they dream up increasingly absurd characters within the Dungeons realm.

Harmonquest premieres on NBC’s subscription streaming channel Seeso July 14.

Disney XD Launches First Batch of Maker Creators’ Videos on Its Digital Apps

Variety is reporting that Disney XD, the Mouse House’s boy-targeted cable network, is releasing 18 videos from Maker Studios’ YouTube creator partners on its digital channels — one of the few concrete examples of synergy between Disney’s traditional media businesses and Maker.

The videos, produced under the Disney XD by Maker talent incubator program, will be distributed across the cabler’s digital platforms, including apps for desktop, mobile and connected-TV devices and on Disney XD’s YouTube channel. The Maker content will be free and carry ads.

Natalia’s and Mayden’s Vida Loca,” ExpCaseros: Inventors Natalia, Mayden and their cat Archimede accidentally cause their entire town to turn into a hybrid cat-human-zombie horde, and experience a series of mishaps while searching for a cure to the madness.

The second is The Adventures of Luzu & Manolo which seems to be done in the same style as The Amazing World of Gumball.

Hello! I am Luzu!. I’m no expert, but I have a great time and try to make funny videos that are fun for people. I also try to upload games that we all love like Minecraft, GTA V Online, Star Wars Battlefront, Rocket League, Pokemon or Garrys Mod, but also many games a bit different as mobile applications, online games, indie games, multiplayer or basically any app that is funny. Steam games usually look at Youtube, the PlayStation Store or the Apple Store but if you have any recommendation not hesitate to share with me in the comments and remember to subscribe!

What is your name and your current occupation?
John MacFarlane  –  I love to create beautiful fairy tale worlds and the creatures that live in those worlds. So animation inspires me. And moving water, fire, smoke, and the like is awesome.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Before animation I used to manage our families printing business. But I did have a crazy job one summer working on a movie called “Roar” in Acton California.  Part of my job was building fences to fence in lions and tigers on the sets and moving them from their holding cages to the sets and back. That was an experience I’ll never forget. I don’t think they ever finished the movie.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
“Iron Giant” It was great to be a part of that, and work with Brad Bird. I also got to do efx on DreamWorks
first animated feature “Prince of Egypt” and most recently Disney’s “Princess and the Frog”. Animating the
gooey inside of Frank in “Osmosis Jones” was a lot of fun. Futurama is cool to because that show always
something to blow up or disgusting gunk to slosh around.  I also Illustrate children’s Continue…
