What is your name and your current occupation?
Patrick Lowery, 3D Senior Animator, looking for work as usual.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I was a game room attendant (still the best job I’ve ever had), drove an ice cream truck, short order cook, sold albums, art supplies and movie tickets.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Probably the most widely known and acclaimed is Lord of the Rings : Return of the King. The most personal satisfaction was probably Stars Wars Episode 3, since it was the project I wanted to work on since I was 12. It only took me about 28 yrs to get there!

How did you become interested in animation?
I was a big fan of monster/sci-fi movies and animation growing up. I didn’t want to be a lawyer so I thought I would try something in the art field.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?

What is your name?
John Mathot

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’ve never had as much fun creating & producing my own pilots.  “Fred Again” for WB Online, and “Bagboy!” for Cartoon Network were both a total gas.  I’d do more episodes in a heartbeat. It was an honor to work on “The Simpsons” for nearly 18 years.  Again, tons of fun to work on, and the crew was a blast to work with.

How did you become interested in animation?
Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved it.  I made many stop-motion films in grade school.  Once I saw the “Dragon’s Lair” arcade game in 1983, I realized that animation didn’t have to be just for kids.  That was the moment — it was gung-ho ever since.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?

What is your name and your current occupation? 
My name is Nick Swift, and I’m a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  I’m sort of in the middle of looking to continue my education and searching for a studio position.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation? 
I haven’t really ever been in any sort of crazy job before.  I’ve worked as an assistant coach for a summer-league swim team, as a host and cashier at a Japanese Steakhouse, and a sales associate in a retail store.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a lot of interesting and inspiring people though.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’d have to say that at this point, my favorite projects are the student films I made while I was in school.  They were my first forays into actual animation, and were wonderful learning experiences.  They’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Press release: Gustaf the Puffin

Gabriele Ranfagni has launched a Crowd Funding effort for his film Gustaf the Puffin. Check out the press release below. Incidentally we interviewed him a while back.

Today, on January 12th, 2015 we are glad to announce that our fundraising page on Karolina Fund has been opened.

We are aiming high and need 42.000 Euros so our project can go from an idea to reality. To reach our goal we need your help. All press coverage, interviews, pictures and such would get us closer to our fundraising goal.

Gustaf the puffin is an animated character which I, Anna Birgis and Gabriele Ranfagni own the copyright to.

We have an excellent team behind us, all very qualified animators. You can see our team on our page on Karolina Fund.

We are aiming to have the pilot show ready in the fall of 2015. We do not have a specific date yet but we will keep you posted.

When that show is ready and premiered, the people that donated the high amounts to our project will be invited to see it, if they have free time to fly over to Iceland. Along with them, part of our team, my self and Gabriele and people from the press, this premier will be a great one.

After the pilot episode is ready and has been premiered it is time for my self and Gabriele to find an investor for our project. Our idea is to make 24 episodes, 11 minutes each.

Gustaf the puffin is Icelandic and all episodes made will happen in icelandic landscape.

As you can see on our fundraising page on Karolina Fund, the introduction for Gustaf the puffin happens on an icelandic beach on black sand right by a place called Dyrholaey.

The idea for the project happened at Dyrholaey last summer in July when my self, Gabriele and others went there to look at the puffins.
