Richard Colburn

What is your name and your current occupation?
This one’s easy. I just have to check my driver’s license and bank statements.  The name is Richard Colburn. I run a business called The 3D Advantage. My associates and I create and animate 3d models for video games, software applications, photo substitution, product development, and movies.  We also create custom video games and original music.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Just like any and all self-respecting American citizens I’ve had jobs mowing lawns, building airplanes  and serving food at the governor’s banquets. Some of my crazier jobs have included mechanical engineering at a college in downtown Chicago. By “mechanical engineering” I mean uninstalling 19 floors of urinals in the guys dormitory, scraping the drains clean with a broken garden spade, then re-installing them. There were other more unpleasant tasks required by the job but I’d rather not mention them. I also served as a crewman aboard the Tall Ship Windy out of Chicago’s Navy Pier. This job had me balancing on a single piece of cotton rope 90 feet above the deck to work on torn sails, replace, frayed ropes and so on. What is your name?
Becca Ramos

What would you say has been your primary job in animation?
I started out as an animation checker but with my architecture background, I took the bg layout test on “The Simpsons” and that’s when I started wearing two different hats – layout & checking. Then I moved on to design when WB hired me for “Pinky & the Brain.” Since then, I have been switching back & forth doing background design or layout and props, from time to time. 🙂

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I would have to say “Chowder” would top the list. I loved the style of that show, I still do, even though our department was the only non-digital one because we were hand inking all the bg designs as the style required. Kudos to Carl Greenblatt & Dan Krall, who created the show and art directed it, respectively.

What is your name and your current occupation?
The 3 of us (Alex Leighton, Ryan Cooper and Tim Evans) run our own independent animation studio in Auckland, New Zealand. We call ourselves Mukpuddy ) and our current occupation is cartoon makers! We try our best to blog really regularly and let people know what we’re up to and currently working on…

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Nothing to crazy really Alex was a dj at a metal/rock bar, Ryan worked at a video rental store and Tim traded human organs on the black market!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Well each new project we do is the one we’re usually most proud of, so with that in mind only 2 weeks ago we competed in a 48 hour film competition. It’s kind of a big deal down here in New Zealand and an annual event where teams of film makers compete all over the country on one weekend to make a short film in just 48 hours. On Friday night we’re given our randomly drawn genre (this year we got ‘Quest Movie”), a random prop, line of dialog and character each team has to put in their film. It was one hell of a weekend but we made it to the finish line with 5 minutes to spare and made a cool little film we’re really stoked with. Now we just have to wait and see what the judges think. While we’re waiting for the final verdict we put together a trailer for the short…We also made a bunch of shorts last year for a local kids show, they basically loved our work and told us to make whatever we wanted… given that type of creative freedom is something pretty special and as a result we feel this is some of our best work to date and hope to use these characters in something else…

What is your name and your current occupation? 

Steve Sagovac. Director at Daydreemin and also Development at Sodacode.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I was involved in creating the Biggest Cocktail drink for a shopping centre launch, with choreographed bar staff to do all the mixing.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I think my first character I started to develop called Leeroy. It was because of him I got to spend some time at Disney Australia, and start working with my eventual Partner when we started Mad Cow Pictures.

Andrés Zorrilla

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Andrés Zorrilla. Currently I´m working as an Animator on a Long 3D Film called Metegol/Futbolin.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
My first job (when I finished school) was very disappointing and crazy. I was offered an internship in a graphic design studio, of course I was very excited about the idea of achieving my first experience in the industry. The funny story about this is that at the end I finished being the studio car driver, driving the owner from one place to another with my own car.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?

What is your name and your current occupation? 
My name is Chris P. No one knows how to pronounce Prynoski. And it sounds like Chris Pee, which is something I do every day. And when I urinate I say, “Chris Pee…” like I’m the Hulk or Frankenstein. It’s fun. Don’t call me Chris Piss, though. That sounds stupid.
My current occupation is owner/president of Titmouse. It’s an animation studio in Hollywood. I usually direct a project or two at any given time. I just finished directing a pilot called Major Lazer for Adult Swim. Now all my time is devoted to Motorcity, a show I created that we are making for Disney XD. It’s about muscle cars in the future for 12 year old boys or 40 year old men with a mid life crisis.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked at an Exxon service station in New Jersey. It was right off the turnpike, next to an adult book store and right across from another Exxon station. I’m pretty sure it was owned by the mob. When I worked the night shift, we would watch the Simpsons on an old black and white tv and play hockey with brooms and spray can tops while washing down the bays.
I also worked at a video rental shop. It didn’t have a porn section. Bummer.
