Boltron Ultimate – The Infinite Army (Part 2 of 4)

Episode 2 of Spindo’s Boltron Ultimate created and animated by Chris Burns and Bob Fox is up and I really love the character designs on this as well as the stylized animation. We posted the first episode of Boltron Ultimate a few weeks ago if you’d like to catch up on the story and did a mini interview about the process with Chris and Bob as well. I have to say, watching these always makes me feel super nostalgic so it just might be time to get out my old Sonic the Hedgehog games! I think they need to make this an actual game! Incidentally,we interviewed Chris last July.

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Toni Reyna, I am currently working as a character designer at ILION Animation Studios.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
During my student days I worked as a waiter and even a grape harvester. I certainly don’t want to do those jobs again!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
“Mortadelo y Filemon contra Jimmy el cachondo” (Ilion Animation Studios, Javier Fesser 2014) This is a animation movie but it is completely different from all other animation movies I have already seen. It will probably look a bit odd to most international audiences althought I think most people will find it quite amusing and unusual. I hope you all will have the chance to see it.

Wher are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I am from Valencia, Spain. I have always been interested in drawing but I really started to get interested in animation when I started to play with Continue reading

I’ve worked at a photo booth at Six Flags California. There’s nothing quite like watching everyone around you having fun.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
So far, the game I’ve been working on at Rasam has been my favorite because it’s allowed me an element of freedom I haven’t had before. But my previous job with 5th Street Games was great too, because that was the first time I was able to use my talents at drawing.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Los Angeles, lived in California all my life. I knew in high school that I wanted to be an artist but it wasn’t until I got to college and realized that I couldn’t Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Ian Dorian. I currently work as a concept and character designer, toy sculptor, and, Adjunct professor.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I have done lots of things that required me to really learn about myself, I worked for butchers, sold hardware, worked for the government, and as an investigator.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
To be honest, I’m proud of everything I’ve worked on. Not because I think I always did a smashing job. Because I’ve had failures almost as much as successes..or is that the other way around? Hahaha! I have to say I really enjoyed the early years working for a start up studio. I created some of my best characters and had the chance to work with some great talent. Jim Krueger was a great guy to work with. He was the writer on a big project I created and developed. He taught me a ton. He was very open minded and very accommodating to the needs of the company. I also enjoyed working as a sculptor for a few Toy and Game companies. I still haven’t created my dream “piece” yet but being able to challenge my 3D skills is a lot of fun. As far as my current work goes working with Atlas Model Railroad Train Co. is always a pleasure. Those guys are so involved (in a good way) in everything they produce and they have been very supportive and creative to what we are doing. Mila (Milafilm.com) Is a project I recently joined. It’s an animation that deals with the survivors of war. Cinzia Angelini (the creator) is a wonderful person to communicate with and the team is very down to earth and top professionals. I’m glad to be a part of such a great and ambitious project such as this one.

How did you become interested in animation?
Bugs Bunny, Battle of the Planets, Ninja Scroll, Thundercats, Transformers, Johnny Quest, Jungle Book, Every single Pixar animated film especially Monsters incorporated, Ratatouille and Toy Story….and the list goes on. Animation has always seemed like a dream set to pictures. The drama! The tension! The sadness! The ability to go beyond your fears! The ability to Continue reading
