What is your name and your current occupation?
William (Bill) Reed – Freelance animator, timing director, fine artist, cartoonist.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
While I was a student at Chouinard, I worked at the surf shops in the South Bay as a glosser. As a glosser I painted designs, pin stripes, panels or whatever the customer wanted on the surfboard then put the gloss coat on. I really had fun working with Gregg Noll Surf Boards, Dewey Weber and Rick Surfboards and went surfing and hung out at the beach when I wasn’t in school.  What could be more fun than that!

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?My first job was in 1966 at the Disney Studio as an apprentice in-betweener onWinnie the Pooh and Jungle Book. I was there for a year and learned more in that year than I did in the four years of art school.  While I was at Filmation I directed two of the animated Star Trek shows and one of them won the Emmy Continue reading

My name is Dale L. Baer, and I’m a supervising animator.

 What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Nothing too exciting, I’ve done the usual, line cook, busboy, grocery bagger, Assistant Manager at a local Pharmacy, and more of the same.

 

 What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
The craziest job was a cab driver in Hollywood back in the 70’s. I lasted all but a couple months.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Definitely “Pinky and The Brain”. The show was cleaver and the staff were great people. That was my first job as an artist. Kinda like the love we hold for our first car… I’ll always look back on those years as the best and most sentimental.

Martin Povey

What is your name and your current occupation? 
I’m Martin Povey and I’m a freelance Animation Director and 3D Generalist based in the UK.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation? 
I was lucky enough to get into animation a year after I graduated from university in 1992!  Although, I actually studied to be an engineer and worked for 6 months designing pressure valves in a chemical plant before sidestepping.  Seeing “XX days accident free” sign on the entry to the plant was a huge influence on my career choice!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of? 
I used to run a medium sized animation company in Birmingham UK called PS Creative.  One of my favourite all time projects was our award winning TV and Cinema commercial for Drayton Manor Park (theme park).  It was a fairly stuffy brief initially, but we had almost total creative freedom and the idea grew into a really fun project.  The characters we designed and built were painted onto the walls of the ride and made into character suits.  It’s immensely cool when you see one of your animated creation wandering round in the real world – Disney had vision J.  I’d have to say overall, it’s far easier to point out the very few projects I HAVEN’T enjoyed working on rather than the many I have

Tim Wolkiewicz

What is your name and your current occupation? 

Tim Wolkiewicz – Production Coordinator at Hasbro on G.I. JOE

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked in a pet store for 7 years.  I have cleaned up and looked after almost every type of domestic animal and have been bitten by about the same number.  I then transitioned into sales at the store.  It was a good job and I learned a lot about how to interact with people and to know everything about what your selling.  It is easier to sell a product more then yourself though.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I loved working on “Adventures from the Book of Virtues.”  Maybe it was because of those I worked with or maybe because it was my first job in the industry.  I was able to work on all aspects of the project and was trusted to work to my full potential.  Currently I work on G.I. Joe.  It’s awesome to be on a show I grew up watching as a kid and the people here are really great.
