LONDON, I WAS WORKING IN LIVE ACTION AND SAW CANDY GUARD’S FILM ‘FANTASTIC PERSON’

What’s a typical day like for you with regards to your job?
AS MD OF A START-UP A TYPICAL DAY STARTS AT ABOUT 8.30 AM AND FINISHES AT 10.00PM ANDCONSISTS PERSUADING PEOPLE TO WORK WITH US OR FOR US AND TO DO IT QUICKLY AND BRILLIANTLY!
What part of your job do you like best? Why?
ENABLING TALENT AND MAKING PROJECTS HAPPEN – ONE OF THE MOST SATISFYING EXPERIENCES A PRODUCER CAN HAVE
What part of your job do you like least? Why?
DOING THE ACCOUNTS – SO IMPORTANT BUT SO DULL
What kind of technology do you work with on a daily basis, how has technology changed in the last few years in your field and how has that impacted you in your job?
MY LAPTOP AND MY SMART PHONE. YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH RUN A BUSINESS WITH A SMARTPHONE NOW WHICH IS GREAT AS LONG AS YOU CAN SWITCH IT OFF NOW AND AGAIN
What is the most difficult part for you about being in the business?
MATCHING THE BUDGETS FOR ANIMATED SHOWS WITH THE PRICE THAT BUYERS ARE WILLING TO PAY
If you could change the way the business works and is run how would you do it?
BUYERS WOULD PAY THE PRICE I SET WITHOUT ARGUMENT
In your travels, have you had any brushes with animation greatness?
NICK PARK AND TOM KENNY (VOICE OF SPONGEBOB) TO NAME BUT TWO, HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO BRUSH WITH SEVERAL GREATS

DECIDING TO LEAVE ONE OF THE WORLD’S GREAT ANIMATION STUDIOS (AARDMAN) TO SET UP MY OWN BUSINESS

NO TIME FOR SIDE PROJECTS OTHER THAN OUR ALLOTMENT – IT’S ALL ABOUT WILDSEED STUDIOS AT THE MOMENT

I AM A REASONABLY COMPETENT CARPENTER, HAVE MADE A BAY WINDOW AND A SPIRAL STAIRCASE FOR EXAMPLE.

MAKE YOUR PERSONAL FILM ABOUT DEATH, DESPAIR OR LONELINESS AS EARLY IN YOUR TRAINING AS YOU CAN
THEN CONCENTRATE ON CREATING ENTERTAINMENT IN THE FORM OF COMEDY! IT’S WHERE THE JOBS ARE.
