ABOUT THE CREATORS

ATUL N. RAO Creator / Producer / Writer / Performer

Currently the Creative Director of Toonz Animation India, one of Asia's top animation studios, Atul is producer/writer on a series of interstitials for Disney Channel Asia, "Legends of the of Fire". In addition, Atul is producing/directing and writing the hilarious pilot short for the animated comedy, "The Maharaja Cowboy". Also soon to be released in the festival circuit, is the preschool pilot, "Paddy's Pages", produced and written by Atul. Originally brought to India to develop the action/adventure property, "The Adventures of Hanuman", Atul created a concept and presold the series to Cartoon Network Asia. In developing the series, Atul authored a graphic novel based on his concept and it is now in preproduction.

For 18 years, Atul N. Rao has been a writer/producer and performer for theatre, television and feature film. Starting as a staff writer at Nelvana Entertainment he wrote for animated hits such as Babar, Carebears, Beetlejuice and Tintin. Atul wrote and produced local theatre and later joined a successful Toronto comedy troupe, "The Lost Tribe" as head writer/performer. He spent four years as producer, head writer and performer for Canada's #1 cable network YTV. Atul began gaining recognition in the U.S.A. when three of his scripts won awards at the World Animation Celebration 1997,

Atul moved to Los Angeles in 1998 when Fox Family Worldwide hired him to be Co-Executive Producer of their Interstitial programming. Along with partners, "The Membrains", Atul produced and co-created 300 shorts and four live-action shows for Fox Kids and Fox Family Worldwide. Atul later co-created and developed concepts and pilots for Nickelodeon, Film Roman, Klasky Csupo, Warner Brothers and Disney Channel. Atul is one of the original creators of Klasky Csupo's "Psyko Ferret" whose pilot won the "Cartoons on the Bay, 2001" Festival in Rome, Italy.

After story editing the hit animated series, "Mona the Vampire" (BBC, YTV, CINAR), Atul broke new ground in the industry by co-creating the first Indian-American cartoon short called "Swaroop" which is currently airing on Cartoon Network.

Awards for his work include New York's Critics Choice award for best educational film, 2nd and 3rd place World Animation Celebration screenwriters award, Frames 2004 Special Jury Award, 1st place Cartoons on the Bay Festival, and recently SICAF award in North Korea. Most recently received a comedy writing award from "Other Network" of Los Angeles, along with writing partners, The Membrains.

Atul holds a B.A. in Psychology, is a graduate in Media Arts (Sheridan College) and was an intern at the Norman Jewison Advanced School for Film Studies in Canada. Through Algonquin College, Atul was mentored by screenwriting legend, Len Blum (Meatballs, Stripes, Beethoven, Howard Stern Private Parts) and television comedy writer/producer, Jeff Abugov (Cheers, Rosanne, Golden Girls).


Mike Milo - Producer/Director/Writer

Emmy award winning director, Mike Milo is best known for his work with Warner Brothers Animation on hit shows like "Pinky and the Brain", "Animaniacs", and "Histeria". Recently he directed 13 episodes of Xiaolin Showdown for Kids WB! Mike's animation experience spans all the top hits in television animation for the last 10 years including Winnie the Pooh, The Critic, Tazmania, Tiny Toons, Johnny Quest and Dragon Tales. Mike has also created original cartoons for Cartoon Network - "Ignoramooses" and "Bloos Gang". Currently Mike is Lead Animator for PBS's Jay Jay's Mysteries.
